In the depth of winter…

Archway station had another of my favourite quotes the other day (and quite fittingly on one of the coldest days we’ve had yet!).

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that there was, in me, an invincible summer” ~ Albert Camus.

In other news, have some cheery quotes/thoughts from my calendar!

1. Need an excuse to smile?  Try
2. “The most wasted of all days is that on which one has not laughed” – Sebastian Roch Nicolas
3. “Hard work never killed anyone, but why take a chance?” – Charlie McCarthy
4. Everyone has to be her own superhero, now and then.
5. “Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be” – Abraham Lincoln

Because eigenvectors are driving me mad…

I want to throw my silly statistical project out the window right now due to an eigenvector catastrophe, but instead I am de-stressing by sharing more of the quotes from my calendar and then my related thoughts!

As an initial thought, some of them are weird.  From now on I’m only posting the less weird ones :p

1: Keep your eyes open- adventure is waiting.
2: You are wonderful.
3: It’s National Handwriting Day (well, it was on January 23rd when this was on my calendar!).  Write a letter longhand to a close friend.  They’ll be touched and grateful to receive some good old-fashioned snail mail!
4: “When people start to get too chummy with me I like to call them by the wrong name so they know that I don’t really care about anything they’re saying” – Ron Swanson

Thoughts: I love snail mail!  Just the other day I got an exciting letter from my friend Claire-Rose which made me laugh out.  And and and I wanted to write about this, even though it was ages ago.  One of my favourite songs is “See the Sun” by Dido, so one time the awesome FiWhoWasNotMyHousemate sent me Dido’s album with that song on in it the post with a little letter that was something along the lines of “saw this and thought of you”.  It’s now my favourite CD and I always put it on if I’m feeling sad :)

And I have done my  bit for National Handwriting Day I feel- yesterday I posted, among other things, a  birthday card and Valentine’s Card to my secret girlfriend Kiran (long story!) and a Statement Of Regret to my awesome friend Lucy because I was rude to her last weekend when she was being really nice to me, so now I feel guilty :p

I also quite enjoy number 4- Ron Swanson sounds like a bit of a troll!

Aaaand, I’m rambling.  Back to the eigenvectors :'(

My last quote-y post somehow managed to delete itself.  Woe.  But I shall ignore my blatant technological failings and proceed to provide a little update on the quotes/thoughts from my cheerful calendar :)

-Laugh every day.

-“Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day” – unknown

-“The only way to do great work is to love what you do.  If you haven’t found it yet keep looking.  Don’t settle. As with all matters of  the heart, you’ll know when you find it” – Steve Jobs

-“I’ve been on a calendar but never on time” – Marilyn Monroe

-Your smile lights the room.  Believe it.

-Set aside an hour today to do something that makes you happy.

-“Take your pleasure seriously” – Charles Eames

Archway station also produced this little gem yesterday, which I very much enjoyed: “Accept the challenges so that you may feel the exhilaration of victory.” – George S Patton

And in final news, Beckie is awesome.  *strokes NPD*
